Our Mission

Uplift Westwood CDC’s mission is to empower, enable and support community members in their efforts to revitalize the Westwood community. UWCDC serves as a vehicle through which residents and businesses can work together to solve problems and improve all aspects of the quality of life of its residents, business owners, and visitors.

Our Founders

REV. MELVIN WATKINS

Rev. Watkins serves as Senior Pastor of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church – Westwood.

CHARLES EVERETT

Charles works as a Technical Principal with FedEx Connect, and grew up in Westwood.

KEVIN RAYFORD

Kevin is the owner of Rayford’s All-In-One Hot Wings, a staple in the community, and is a life-long Westwood resident.

YVONNE BECTON

Yvonne is a Retired Certified Victim Assistance Specialist. She worked tirelessly for 18 years with Victims To Victory, Inc.

JONATHAN LOGAN, MEng, PMP

Jonathan is the President and CEO of Castle Black Construction.

MICHAEL DEUTSCH

Michael Deutsch is Vice President for Goldman Sachs - Personal Financial Management. He also serves as an advocate for Memphis Inner City Rugby, which is composed primarily of student-athletes living in the 38126 and 38109 ZIP codes.

JULIA CALLAWAY

Julia serves as the Principal for Westwood High School.

ERIC HARRIS

Eric is Principal of Geeter K-8 School in Shelby County Schools. He has over twenty years of experience serving student and families in grades PreK - 12.

DR. STEPHANIE HILL

Stephanie has 19 years of successful experience in non-profit youth development, early childhood education, K-12 school administration, and post-secondary program development.
