Community Projects

How we intentionally impact our community

Housing Support

Homeownership is at the core for family and community success. The American dream of owning one’s home will occupy a majority of the time, talent and energy of Uplift Westwood. We look forward to supporting current homeowners; transitioning renters to owners; and revitalizing abandon homes for future homeowners.

Economic Development

Supporting the current Westwood business owners and creating opportunities for new businesses to call Westwood home will be key to this community’s bright future. We look forward to being a supportive voice to those that want to be successful in Westwood.

Employment/Education Opportunities

Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! Over the next several years a primary goal of Uplift Westwood is to bring employers and job training organizations from throughout Shelby County to Westwood to meet residents and create paths to employment

Youth Empowerment

Our schools are the anchors in our community. We all want them to be sources of hope and academic opportunity. Uplift Westwood will work to bring in resources to support our students, teachers, and schools as they create pathways to success, whether it be to college, trade school, or military service.

Blight Transformation

One lot, one yard, and one home at a time.

Every resident of Westwood deserves a beautiful neighborhood. Together, we can identify and improve areas in our community with the long-term goal of increasing home ownership.

Westwood Resident Resources

Connecting resources to residents is an important step to improving the collective quality of life in Westwood. Frequent events will be hosted by Uplift Westwood to inform residents of legal, health, financial and housing related supportive resources.

“Increasing homeownership in any community is the key. It improves classroom success, reduces crime, and provides an opportunity to create family wealth. Without creating more opportunities for all Memphians to be homeowners, half of our neighbors will slide further behind.”

— Michael Deutsch, Board Member - Uplift Westwood CDC
